About the Prince Albert Music Festival
The
Prince Albert Music Festival is an annual event that promotes
excellence in music and speech arts for people of all ages, backgrounds,
and ability levels. Each year, entrants have the unique opportunity to
perform and receive feedback from a professional musician. This develops
important skills in musical performance, technique, and artistry. Music
Festival is proud to nurture the artistic growth of local musicians for
lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of music.
The Prince Albert
Music Festival is organized by a volunteer committee and runs
thanks to the support of local donations, provincial sponsorships, and the dedication of local music teachers.
History of the Prince Albert Music Festival
The first Prince Albert Music Festival was held in 1908 - but not much information about that festival survives. ( /PAMFAHistory.pdf
) The cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert took turns hosting
a provincial music festival and in the 1920s Prince Albert started
hosting its own "local" music festival. After the war, Prince Albert has
been holding annual festivals since 1948 - held in places as diverse as
the Empress Hotel and the Roller Rink.
